The scale of popularity has meant an expansion of the English language with whole new words and terms being created to describe actions in the world of blogging. The list is quite extensive so here are a few of the better known and some humorous terms and definitions:
Blaudience - The audience and readers of a blog.
Blog Carnival – A blog article that contains links to other articles linking to specific topic.
Blistless – When a blogger becomes bored of posting.
Bloggies – The most popular blog awards.
Blogorrhea – When a blogger gets carried away and starts talking to much or incoherently on there blog.
Blogsnob – A person who refuses to respond to comments from anyone other than their friends.
Blogstorm – When a topic of discussion receives a sudden massive amount of interest.
Blooger – A person who lacks in manners when posting.
Bloll – A reference to a troll in blogging, a troll being an individual who deliberately creates controversial topics in order to cause anger.
Celeblog – A celebrity blog.
Flog – A blog that is created by a ghost writer for a marketing department.
Gulog – A depressing blog.
Ping – An alert to the trackback that you have updated your blog.
Plog – A political blog.
Splog – Spam blogging.
There are many more terms and phrases but as you can see the popularity of blogging has reached a level where it has developed its own language unique to users! |
